In 2012, Andrew began working at Grocery Checkout Fresh Market on campus. He was soon promoted to student manager. As the store exploded in popularity over the next year, Andrew saw the opportunity for expansion in student-directed marketing. He proposed the idea to Grocery Checkout’s CEO, and was given the go ahead to create a position from which he would direct marketing and promotions. As marketing and promotions manager, Andrew oversees design, marketing, community management and in-store promotions for Grocery Checkout Fresh Market.

Academically, Andrew excelled in his film and media courses including Media and Popular Culture, Culture and Technology, Advertising and Consumer Culture, Digital Theory and Trends, and Video Production for Digital Media.

Through his various endeavours, Andrew has developed an aptitude for graphic design, marketing, and project management. Some of his favourite tools include Adobe Illustrator, Final Cut Pro 7, and Snapseed. In his spare time, Andrew loves listening to indie-alternative rock/pop, reading articles on The Verge, and sketching on FiftyThree’s Paper.

Andrew’s dream is to create and run his own business before he turns 30. In order to get there, he plans on gaining experience in the industry working as a graphic designer.

Andrew James Reid is a film and economics student, marketing and promotions manager, and saxophonist currently residing in Kingston, Ontario.

Growing up, Andrew’s parents’ inability to restrict his video game play and computer use resulted in the early development of his interest in design and graphics. In high school, Andrew excelled academically in economics, but nurtured his creative side playing in the Lawrence Park Collegiate Institute’s school band.

At Queen’s University, Andrew joined The Queen’s Bands. Established in 1905, the Bands is the largest and oldest university marching band in Canada, and the embodiment of Queen’s spirit. In his third year, Andrew served on the Bands executive team as director of the brass section.
